After hugely impressing all the staff at City’s coaching clinic at Kitchee, Jane Yip, a nine-year-old footballer was rewarded with tickets to City’s penultimate Asia Tour match in midweek, meeting some familiar faces along the way!
The club also presented Jane with both a football and a City shirt and she was also able to meet both manager Pep Guardiola and our German international Ilkay Gundogan.
A talented left winger who has been playing football since the age of six, Jane - who harbours dreams of becoming a professional footballer - plays for Kitchee Girls Under-10s and after Wednesday’s match in Hong Kong, her proud parents revealed that her loyalties now lay firmly with the blue side of Manchester.
Jane’s Mum also revealed that she hadn’t let go of the ball we presented her with!
City ran out 6-1 victors against Kitchee, and as Jane enjoyed her first experience of watching Pep’s side, veteran Kim Dongjin was making his final appearance for Kitchee.
The 37-year-old also received a shirt from Pep, as well as a standing ovation from Kitchee and City fans alike when he was substituted in the 15th minute to set the seal on what was a memorable stay for us in Hong Kong.
