The club were the recipients of the Outstanding Contribution to Sport in Manchester accolade at Manchester City Council’s annual Manchester Sports Awards.
Now in its 10th year, the event recognises the achievements and tireless work put in by the hundreds of volunteers, coaches, clubs, schools, community groups and individuals who, together, all contribute to help in making Manchester the country’s leading sporting city.
As such, City were the proud recipients of the Outstanding Contribution to Sport in Manchester prize.
The presentation was made in recognition of the enormous contribution the club have not only made to the sporting landscape but to the city as a whole through its tireless community provision and in particular, the regeneration of East Manchester over the last decade.
Councillor Emma Taylor, Deputy Executive Member for Schools, Culture and Leisure and Neil Fairlamb Strategic Lead for Parks, Leisure and Events presented the award to Manchester City’s Chief Operating Officer, Omar Berrada, who received the honour on the Club’s behalf.
Commenting on the award, Chief Operating Officer, Omar Berrada, said: “We were honoured to be chosen by Manchester City Council to receive this award in recognition of the Club’s contribution to the sporting landscape in Manchester over the last 10 years.
“Both under Sheikh Mansour’s ownership of Manchester City, and well before that, the Club and the City Council have enjoyed an outstanding partnership.
“Together we have delivered major change which has helped to regenerate East Manchester and enhance the lives of those who live within our local community.
“We look forward to continuing to build on our partnership with the City Council into the next decade, and beyond.”
We’re looking for a City fan who is truly deserving of an unforgettable festive season.
