Eight youngsters from the United States recently enjoyed a once in a lifetime trip to Manchester City after winning the SkillCity competition.

The challenge, which ran via the SkillCity app that launched in July 2017, tested ball control, passing, speed and finishing, with participants required to upload videos of themselves mastering these skills to the app in order to enter.

Thirsty-two of the highest scoring young footballers were selected for the national final at Goals, Pomona, in California.

After fighting off the competition, eight youngsters emerged victorious from the boys and girls under 8, under 10, under 12 and under 14 age group categories.

Collected from the airport on the Manchester City team bus, the lucky winners were taken to the City Football Academy where they took part in coaching clinics, met the players and had their photo taken with the first team on the Etihad Stadium pitch before watching City beat Newcastle in the Premier League.

A similar competition, boasting equally impressive prizes, is now available for children living in the UK to enter.

The Nexen Skills challenge is open for boys and girls aged 8-16 and tests your dribbling and shooting attributes.

Up for grabs is the chance to compete at the Etihad on the day of a City game, Club merchandise, as well as a VIP experience at a home game.
