Manchester City will host its first soccer skills challenge final in California on Saturday December 9.

Goals Pomona Soccer Centre is the venue for the SkillCity app’s national final, which will see 32 young players from the US battle it out to win an all-expenses paid trip to Manchester, UK.

Whilst there, the winners will stay at the state-of-the-art City Football Academy training facility and watch a game at the Etihad Stadium.

Launched in July this year and presented by Nexen, SkillCity is an app for boys and girls aged 5-14-years-old, featuring skill challenges exclusively developed by Club coaches.

Thousands of young players are currently competing against their friends and City players, to test their speed of movement, ball mastery, finishing and passing skills by uploading their videos to rank themselves in the US national leader board.

The top entrants in each age category (Under 8, Under 10, Under 12 and Under 14) will qualify for the final and battle it out at Goals in Pomona – part of City Football Group’s joint venture with Goals Soccer Centres in the US and Canada.

With a host of activities, the day itself is one for all the family to enjoy as the finalists compete for the top prizes.

Midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, alongside other players, features within the app and has been impressed with the calibre of entries: “The players loved trying out the SkillCity challenge and it’s been great to see so many entries from soccer fans all over the US.

“It’s a brilliant app and young players have loved getting the chance to test themselves against their friends and see how they do against the City players too.

“Good luck to everyone submitting videos – it should be a fantastic grand final and we look forward to welcoming the winners over to Manchester.”

There is still time to enter the competition and all users need to do is submit their challenge videos by 12pm EST Sunday November 19.

SkillCity is available to download for free from the Apple Store and the Play Store
