City launch football education programme in China

EDUCATION PROGRAMME: The Kaiwen Manchester City Football School.

EDUCATION PROGRAMME: The Kaiwen Manchester City Football School.

A new football partnership will give young people in China the opportunity to learn how to play the Manchester City way.

The Club have launched a football education experience in conjunction with the prestigious Beijing-based Kaiwen Academy, which will replicate the training philosophy implemented by both City's Academy teams and that of Pep Guardiola’s first team squad.

The Kaiwen Manchester City Football School – a partnership with the Kaiwen Education Group – will offer a unique curriculum for aspiring young footballers and is set to launch in September 2018.

City Football Schools will take charge of coaching a bespoke training programme, which will be delivered alongside traditional education as the Club extends its role in the development of football in China.

As part of this long-term relationship with the Kaiwen Education Group, students will also travel to the UK each summer to train at the City Football Academy.

“We are delighted to launch the Kaiwen Manchester City Football School,” said Damian Willoughby, Senior Vice President of Partnerships at City Football Group.

“Kaiwen is a prestigious institution and shares City’s commitment to playing an active role in the development of football in China.

“We are excited to extend Manchester City’s presence in Chinese education and provide more young players with the opportunity to improve their talents through playing the City way.”

Marc Xu, Chairman of Kaiwen Education Group, added:” We think Manchester City is a professional football club, but more importantly, we believe sport is the cultivation process of our body, not only physically but also mentally and emotionally.

"Healthy mind and healthy body. It is the same educational philosophy that brings Manchester City and Kaiwen together.

"We believe this partnership is significant in terms of understanding the culture of football as well as accepting and learning the sportsmanship it represents.”

City v Watford: Game of remembrance

REMEMBRANCE: A minute's silence is impeccably observed at the Etihad.

Manchester City will hold its annual minute’s silence at the home game against Watford on Tuesday 2nd January, when we will remember all those connected with the Club who have sadly passed away in 2017.

We are inviting fans to remember loved ones who have passed away by featuring their names on the LED screens during the minutes silence.
