Back in April, the club launched a new competition which gave our fans the chance to answer the question: if you could tell just one story about Manchester City, what would it be?
Thousands of you from all over the world shared your special City moments on our fan site Citystories and after shortlisting to a final selection of five brilliant entries, supporters have selected their favourite City tale.
The voting was very close but we are delighted to announce that Ian MacLeod from the United States has won the competition with his piece, entitled: City Saved My Life Against Cancer.
Ian’s story of real human endeavour is an incredible account of a battle against Acute Leukaemia. It describes how the help and support of his local City Supporters Club in West Hollywood kept Ian fighting through his ordeal.
You can read the story below:
Reflecting on the good news of his success, Ian declared: "Having the opportunity to go to Manchester to watch the boys in Blue is truly a dream come true. I applaud my brethren of the Hollywood Supporters Club for rallying so deeply around me.
"This contest taught me a few things: one, that the power of unity can't be underestimated - when people come together in an intense way for one cause, anything is possible. Secondly, I wanted all survivors of cancer to know that life doesn't stop when you walk out of the hospital.
"It's just the beginning of a phenomenally blessed life you can partake in if you open your eyes, take a deep breath and live the life you always dreamed of.
I can't wait to get to Etihad Stadium and howl at the Blue Moon when we start another victorious season together! CITY 'TIL I DIE!
Michael Heaven, project manager of Citystories said: "The five finalists demonstrated just how many incredible stories belong to the fans of Manchester City.
"Ian’s story is one of the most honest and powerful accounts of a fan’s relationship with City. His story personifies the enormous character and togetherness of the club and its supporters.
"We are thrilled Ian has been chosen by the fans and we'd like to thank to everyone who participated."
To build support for his vote, Ian created a video which can be viewed here or below.
As winner of the competition, Ian will receive an incredible Citystories prize package which includes a signed shirt, tickets to City Live and VIP treatment at the opening home game of the 2014/15 season. Not only that, Ian’s story will also be added to the wall of the club's museum in time for the new campaign.
