Manchester City Official Third Kit 2016/17

Manchester City is proud to reveal a new third kit, which will be worn away from home in cup competitions throughout the 2016/17 campaign.

Pep Guardiola’s squad have produced a number of eye-catching performances so far this season, a quality this vibrant new kit shares.

Combining a bold violet with orange, City will sport this distinctive look for the first time against Swansea City in the third round of the English Football League Cup, as well as on their travels in the Champions League and FA Cup, for the remainder of the campaign.

Pre-order the 2016/17 third kit.

Violet first appeared on City’s 1992 away shirt and also featured in the 2007-08 and 2014-15 versions.  This season, orange horizontal lines overlay the shirt’s violet base.

Accompanied by violet shorts, the eye-catching kit is completed with socks that replicate the colour combination of the new shirt and the Club’s history is also referenced with ‘CITY’ and ‘EST 1894’ stitching on the back of the collar and on the inside of the cuffs.

In keeping with the 2016/17 home and away kits, the third strip utilises Nike AeroSwift Technology and is designed to maximise player performance.

A black stripe also runs along each flank of the shirt and shorts, which expands with movement to provide enhanced ventilation, while the sock offers additional cushioning around the toes, ankle and heel to provide players with superior comfort.

John Stones is a fan of all three of the Club’s kits this season and believes there’s nothing better than supporters wearing the team’s colours with pride.

“It’s cool – it shows that they’re behind you and they can look good in this season’s ones as well. It’s good for everyone,” enthused the defender.

The vibrancy of the 2016/17 third kit reflects the club's and the city of Manchester's creativity.

To celebrate the launch, Nike Football has captured the stories of the players and fans who define what it means to wear the City shirt.

Stones, Leroy Sane, Blossoms and boxer Marcus Morrison, as well as a number of other fans have all shared their own personal journey supporting the Club, with each individual account reflecting Manchester’s status as a hub for music, sport and style.

Bobby Graham of the Fallowfield Blues follows his club home and away and is looking forward to wearing the new on his travels.

“It’s a nice contrast to the normal colours. I think the third kit is always a bit more adventurous – but these are the kits that stand out and end up famous.”

Manchester born, internationally renowned portrait photographer, Michael Mayren, knows the importance of looking good and believes the latest kit’s nod to the city’s creativity means Mancunians can wear it with pride.

He added: “I like wearing the shirt because I’m such a proud northerner – it means you can show people where you’re from.”

The new Manchester City third kit is available to pre-order now at mancity.com/shop and is officially on sale from Thursday 22 September.
