With Cityzens Weekend and pre-season events, the build up to the 2016/17 campaign has been busy for players and Supporter Clubs alike.

A number of branches have enjoyed exclusive opportunities to get up close and personal with their City heroes and this trend continued as Pep Guardiola’s squad travelled to Gothenburg to face Arsenal in their final pre-season friendly.

As was the case with our Chinese supporters in Shenzhen, it was the perfect time for fans in the country to connect with the Blues like never before.

As the players touched down, they were whisked away to meet members from Sweden’s branch of our Official Supporters Club.

There were more than 50 people in attendance as Jason Denayer, Kelechi Iheanacho, Aleksandar Kolarov and Jesus Navas posed for selfies and signed fans’ City memorabilia.

Later that same day, City Ambassador Mike Summerbee visited the branch’s base at O’Leary’s Sports Bar where he presented our Swedish fans with their Supporter Club plaque in honour of their commitment to the Club.

The presentation capped a memorable day for all the Blues in Gothenburg and branch chairman, Andreas Fahlren was delighted to have the opportunity to bring together fans from around the country.

He said: "This was extraordinary for us. Sweden is large country and our supporters are spread out from north to south. It was impressive to see so many fans in Gothenburg as normally we just meet at games in Manchester.

"We were so impressed and grateful for the generosity of the Club, who made it possible to meet the players.”

There was more to come as our visit to the Ullevi Stadium allowed us to offer supporters an unforgettable experience.

Eleven of the branch members’ children were chosen as player escorts and walked out onto the pitch of the 43,000 capacity stadium.

For seven-year-old Blue Sid Quist, it was a brilliant moment and commenting on the experience, he said: "It was the happiest day of my life, to be a City player escort and to walk in with the players on the pitch in Gothenburg. I walked in with Nolito, it was great.”

Afterwards, 10 lucky fans were invited meet the players as they left the stadium, giving them exclusive access to the players post-match and providing another opportunity for selfies and autographs.
