City e-gamer's top tips for EA SPORTS FIFA

City fan? EA SPORTS FIFA player? Then our newest recruit is here to help.

This week, Kieran ‘Kez’ Brown became the Blues first eSports player and now the talented gamer has some advice to ensure City fans are celebrating on screen success.

So, if you’re looking to climb the FIFA leagues, check out Kez’s top tips below…

Utilise player instructions

This is a feature a lot of players may not make use of, but for me it makes a big difference. When looking at your active squad press 'Y' or 'Triangle' to bring up the squad actions menu and go down to player instructions.

I find the following instructions work best:

  • Defenders – Stay back whilst attacking
  • Forwards – Stay forward, get in behind and press back line.

These tactics should prevent you from getting caught on the counter attack as often and should also make it easier to create chances.

Use the right skill moves

With each version of FIFA there are different skills moves which are more effective than others. On FIFA 16 I’ve found that the best two skills to use are the ball roll and the body feint. Other moves also work well, but these two are the ones I feel are most likely to lead to chances and goals.

Mix up your passing

There’s a pass for every situation and different passes will work better in certain scenarios. For me, through balls rarely pay off so I make use of the driven pass feature, which I think is the best way to quickly set up an attack.

You don’t want to be using this all the time, but if you’ve not already tried it I would suggest you start experimenting with it.

Learn no touch dribbling

This is something I’ve only begun using recently. It can take a while to get used to but I’ve found it's a very good way to breakdown defences.

It’s also worth using the ‘Lb sprint boost’ – check out what this is on YouTube - which is one of the most effective moves I’ve seen used in the game.

Use the right formation

No one formation guarantees success but each year there are formations which work better than others. On FIFA 16 I would recommend using 4-1-2-1-2(2), 4-3-2-1, 4-3-1-2, 4-2-3-1(2) and 4-2-2-2 and would avoid playing three at the back.

City announce first eSports signing

Manchester City have completed their fourth signing of the summer with the capture of eSports player Kieran ‘Kez’ Brown.

The Club have snapped up the youngster as they announce their move into eSports, which will have a particular focus on EA SPORTS FIFA.
