Introducing the new City website

After months of research, planning and development we are delighted to announce the launch of our new website, mancity.com, showcasing ambitious new features that underline the Club’s commitment to innovation, fan engagement and participation.

We’re entering a new chapter, embracing the changing habits of a booming social and highly mobile audience, and are excited to launch this fresh digital experience for our rapidly growing fan base nationally and across the globe.

CO-CREATION

What you see today is the culmination of a long journey of co-creation, of engaging with our fan base, listening to their needs and observing their behaviour. Following multiple rounds of focus groups, surveys, prototype designs, and user testing, in March we released a Beta site and invited supporters to test it out and share their feedback. We received thousands of survey responses and comments from around the world, allowing us to build in improvements resulting in a site that caters for the needs of all fans, responds to the weekly and seasonal rhythms of the football club, celebrates the highs of our teams and records the story of Manchester City.

MOBILE, TABLET & DESKTOP

Designed with mobile use at its heart, you will now have a consistent, streamlined experience across all devices. The site will respond to the fans’ needs, delivering the right subject matter and interactions within the right context – at any time. You will be able to access all content in any situation whether it requires a swipe, tap or a click.

We’re also introducing a new URL, mancity.com. Shifting to .com better reflects the Club’s global reach, in line with both other football clubs and other global organisations. And mancity was chosen over mcfc as this is the language most commonly used to describe our Club, supported by search results showing that fans refer to us as mancity four times as much as mcfc, both in the UK and internationally. Plus we needed something short and legally trademarked – otherwise manchestercity.com would’ve been our preferred route.

CITY NOW

We’ve created a new feature, City Nowa feed providing a frequent, real-time and continuous stream of snackable and social content from across the club, our teams and players, our fan base and the wider football community, all in an easy to browse experience.

CITYTV

We’ve put CityTV video at the centre of the action across the site, with more video content than ever before and a number of features to make the video experience richer including curated playlists, trending video charts, a queue feature to enable saving videos for later viewing, and dynamic categories allowing you to filter what you want to watch based on your mood or how much time you have available.

DISCOVERY

Quenching the fans’ thirst for all things Manchester City, we've redesigned the site to make our content easier to find and delivered it within an instinctive new layout. Scroll-based browsing through articles guarantees an effortless browsing experience intended to showcase a single news story as it evolves or coverage of the Club’s key topics.

Whether you’ve followed the team for generations or are discovering City’s story for the first time, we’ll help you pick what to read or watch from what’s breaking and trending, as well as vintage City content from the archives.

MATCHDAY

Mindful of the natural peaks of activity around matchday, we’ve designed a homepage layout that adapts to the various match phases, from the excitement of build-up to matchday live through to post match reaction, complementing the fan’s mind-set at any time.

FRESH DESIGN

Finally, of course we’re giving you a new design, featuring our new badge, and in which images, videos and content are all optimised for best performance, plus there is lots of care and attention for the finer details too.

We hope you like it as much as we do.
