City Love Story: Valentine's Special Part I

February is a month filled with love and football and there is no better way to celebrate both than to see how a love for football and more specifically Manchester City, brought two people together.

We reached out to fans on Twitter using the #citylovestory hashtag to see how the beautiful game had brought them together and we got some fantastic stories!

Let’s begin with Angela and Paul Bent…

Angela told mcfc.co.uk: “After finding out I was a City season ticket holder and lived five minutes away, he didn't need to know anymore!

“We enjoyed our first date on Boxing Day 2010 at a very icy Newcastle away day. Sliding down a big hill wasn't my best look! From that day we have never looked back...and we got 3 points!”

This City love story went on and they got engaged in New York following a date in City's Mad Hatters supporters bar watching The Blues beat Reading.

“We were married on Shaun Goater Day in 2014 and we even have a card from Shaun himself! Our wedding was City themed with football ticket invites, a programme order of service, tables named after our favourite players, a stadium table plan and of course the colour theme was sky blue!”

And if you fast forward another year the couple have welcomed Isla Grace to the world…

What a way to start the Valentine’s special! Our next couple have an equally great story, so let’s get straight to it…

Ian Arnfield was in Seville earlier this season, watching City play away in the Champions League when he saw a familiar face.

Ian said “I saw a girl I had seen at various other away matches in the past but never had the confidence to go and speak to. The day after the game I was in O'Neills bar in Seville and this girl came up to me.”

Ian soon realised that his dad had been speaking to the girl as she called him ‘ginge’, a name his dad calls him to wind him up!

That didn’t stop the pair hitting it off. Ian continued: “We had a few drinks and ended up staying together for the rest of the trip. When we landed home the day after, we arranged to meet up at Villa away, it turned out I had to swap my ticket as we were sat in different tiers, we met up there and met up a few times afterwards.”

Somewhere amongst the crowd at Villa were Ian and Susannah!

The relationship blossomed and now Ian and Susannah live together near Kidderminster. Ian had always said that he could never move away from City but the couple travel to every game with Susannah’s dad and his friend Malc and have never been happier!

Another great story to conclude the first part of the City Love Story: Valentine’s Special, stay tuned for part II tomorrow and make sure to check out all the other #citylovestory replies on Twitter @mcfc.
