Greenwood's post-match reaction

The skipper spoke to BBC Sport after the game and said:

On rotating the squad: "I think this season rotation is going to be really important, the players that came off the bench today made a massive difference, our squad depth is brilliant. We wanted this and we're enjoying it."

On not scoring more goals: "The expectation is you come here and win easily but this league doesn't do that anymore and we have to figure out how to break teams down. We've got a few tired bodies this week but it's not an excuse."

On manager Andree Jeglertz giving her fluidity: "When I'm playing in that position the manager gives me more movement on the ball. For me to play in the centre of the pitch and be fluid. I like to do my best for the team."

UP NEXT

City welcome Real Madrid to the Joie Stadium on Thursday 1 October, with kick-off set for 20:00 (UK).

It's quick turnaround with fixtures coming thick and fast with European nights.

But that's exactly what we want!

Eye-catching passing

City recorded 683 passes, over three times as many as Charlton.

And to have our passing accuracy total 88.7% is another impressive factor for Jeglertz and his rotated side.

A first clean sheet!

Equally important and as much as a confidence boost as scoring goals, City shut out our opponents for the first time this term.

A just reward for a solid performance at the back, including the substitutions, that reduced Charlton to just one shot on target.

POTM

Alex Greenwood has been named the Barclays Player of the Match and it comes as no surprise.

A leader on and off the pitch, she set the tone today and topped off another fantastic performance with a sublime free-kick.
