THANK YOU

That's all from Gateshead International Arena as City triumphed on penalties after an eventful 3-3 draw with Newcastle in normal time.

The international break follows now which means sections of our squad will link up with their nations. As a result, we're next back in action against West Ham on Saturday 1 November.

We'll see you there - thank you for your incredible support as ever.

JEGLERTZ REACTION 🗣️

On Newcastle...

They were fighting from minute one throughout the whole game. I think our game today wasn't good enough, we turned it around from a goal down to lead 3-1 and we just need to make sure we kill the game then. Being able to protect the 3-1 lead and we didn't. On the other hand it's strong from the team to come back and win on penalties.

On our final League Cup match...

No matter what, I think we still have to win the last game [against Nottingham Forest] so I think it's just about the result but we need to make sure we're better in a situation where we are, in these kinds of games, the opponent is bringing so much energy, so much power that we are able to deal with that in a better way. Play faster, but also being more determined with what we're doing with the ball. We also learned a lot from this. We learned about our team also where we're really good, but also how we manage because this is something we haven't experienced in other games so we just need to learn from it and take it into the next game.

On learning from the Newcastle result...

I don't think it should be like that, we should do it anyway. We can win but still learn, but now we have a little set back. We still won the game in the end [on penalties] but at the same time, we will face in parts of the game where I'm not pleased how we reacted. As a team, individually, we just need to be better in those ones and it doesn't matter if it's in this game or if it's in the league.

LAURA COOMBS REACTION 🗣️

On Newcastle...

They had a lot of fight. They scored first before we scored three, but they still had the fight to the end. We let ourselves down a little bit in the last 10 minutes, but all credit to them because they pushed to the end.

On getting the extra point...

Penalties are never nice. You never know when they're going to go your way or not, so we're happy we picked up the two points.

On the international break to follow...

I think everyone needs a little break. Go away and come back because I feel like we always come back really sharp when everyone goes away and has time for themselves so I'm looking forward to getting back to it.
