BUNNY SHAW REACTION 🗣️

On the win

Yeah I think Brighton played a good game. They did their homework and made it very difficult for us but we know the quality we have in the team. When we get the opportunity, we just need to tidy up and try to get it in the back of the net.

On her goal and Leila’s cross

To be fair we spoke about it before the game when we found out she was starting, I told her I needed an assist. We’ve been trying and working on it, so when she got it I knew I had to be there because I knew it was coming in.

On Kerolin

I think Kerolin’s confidence is growing, at the beginning we spoke and she was a bit nervous, but I said mistakes will happen, t’s how you react to them. I talk to her every day in training and said when you get that confidence you’re going to just keep going and wonder what’s happening. Tonight, she came out here full of confidence and was very busy, I’m happy for her.

On grinding out results

Yeah, and I think that’s what we’ve got to do. Some games won’t go how we plan it, but we just have to find away to get the win if that means grinding it out to the final whistle that’s what we have to do. It showed our determination in this game and that’s something we have to keep building on, when games get tough, we have to find a way.

CASPARIJ TO SKY SPORTS 🗣️

Manchester City's Kerstin Casparij talking to Sky Sports on what changed at half-time: "We were doing alright to be fair. We changed our press a little bit. We were able to get a bit wider and a bit higher so we were able to break the line. Just a few little tweaks.

"I'm looking forward to getting loads of assists. That's my aim for this year. Hopefully I can work on that tally. I work a lot with Bunny and Hempo to give good deliveries."

On getting the first win: "We lost last week but there were a lot of positives. We work on the positives, do a few tweaks and we are happy to come away with a win for our home fans."

JEGLERTZ TO THE BBC 🗣️

Manchester City boss Andree Jeglertz: We knew it was going to be a tough game but I am proud of the win but also the patience the players showed through the game. There was no stress.

On what he changed for second half: "We talked about keeping doing the things we are doing. I was convinced if we don't get stressed, we would hurry up but don't rush it."

"We have a great squad. We have many good players that started the game and coming on at the end of the game also. We can play different ways with the qualities, they are giving us something different."

On Yui Hasegawa: "She is an amazing player. She is so important for this team. I am happy for her."

On confidence going forward: "If you create a lot of scoring changes and win, the confidence is growing. We believe if we keep doing these things, we need to adjust a couple of things still. But in general a lot of things are building from this game to give us confidence."

WELL PLAYED

Hemp doesn't let the ball leave her foot as she twists and turns on the edge of the box and draws a foul. Brilliant and smart play.
