Taylor's thoughts on City's performance

"We are coming away disappointed with today. Sometimes it happens. Worst case scenario is a point, losing it tough to take but credit to Brighton and how they handled those moments," said Taylor.

"It's on us, we should've had many goals but it just didn't happen."

Gareth Taylor's post-match press conference 🗣

The boss was asked for his thoughts following our defeat. He said:

"We were off the pace today. We started quite well but from there we slowly regressed and I felt we were very flat.

"We struggled to give something to the fans who were really good in trying to push and motivate us late on but by then we were clutching at too many long shots."

Melissa Phillips provide her thoughts 💬

The Brighton boss addressed the media after the game to give her assessment of the win:

"We knew we'd get one chance and had to take it. Ultimately really proud of the group and we deserved it with the way in which we defended.

"Huge credit to Baggaley who has been fantastic against the top teams."

What it means...

We fall to our second league defeat of the season.

After Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United all pick up points this afternoon, we move to fifth.

A commendable effort

After 27 home games in all competitions, we suffer our first defeat at the Joie Stadium since November 2021.

But Taylor's side fought until the end, tallying 35 shots, 13 of which were on target, compared to Brighton's three on target.
