That's all, folks đź‘‹

Another fine afternoon's work.

A deserved win makes it six league victories on the bounce and eight in total to keep the pressure on the WSL top three.

Keep across mancity.com and the official app for plenty of post-match reaction across the evening.

Thank you once again as always for your company, and see you next week for the small matter of that Etihad derby against Manchester United!

Gareth Taylor on Julie Blakstad's best position...đź’¬

I think we were just trying to find the position. We had an idea she’d be on the left, we knew that for certain but weren’t sure if it’d be at left back but she’s a different type of winger, different too Lauren like Hayley different to Chloe and Jess last year. Any player thrives with continuous games, she’s robust physically, she never wants a day off, she’s a good young talent. We’re working on key areas but the goal contributions have been good so far.

Gareth Taylor on selection headaches...đź’¬

People play, come in, come out. Sometimes they come out if they have performed well, there’s always a reason and a rationale behind the team I pick. Players won’t always agree but it’s part and parcel of football and my role. I think the game the way it is is a squad game, minimum 16 player game. Especially a three-game week you see the team change.

Gareth Taylor on the importance of winning after yesterday's results...

You expected Chelsea, Arsenal and United to win the games they played and they did and people probably expect us to win. Sometimes people see it on paper and think that’s it but there are no easy games. Scoring early is important to settle the nerves. We don't take too much notice of it, we concentrate on what we do. For us to be where we are now after the first two games is a great effort from everyone. We have a good opportunity next week to claw even more ground back. It’s a good position we’re in.

Gareth Taylor on today's performance...đź’¬

Good win, good start. We looked a bit slow to start the first five minutes but the goal settled us. Our set plays were good today, second goal very good, good finish from Julie and from Laura as well. I’d say the second half was a bit too loose from us in possession which made the game too open for Brighton. Disappointed we haven’t added more goals but I think it keeps us right in touch which is the pleasing thing.

Laura Coombs' on the week ahead đź’¬

Definitely. We don't think about that game too much, we have Liverpool before that but we’re so fired up for next week being at the Etihad, we want to put in a good performance. We’ll put a great week in on the training pitch. There’s one thought: two wins from two games.

Laura Coombs' on playing with confidence đź’¬

Every player is a confidence player, I definitely am and we’ve got such a good group here now. Every day we push each other and you go into games knowing training’s been hard and you’re prepared. That helps me, I’ve got good players around me. I know what my job is, I know what my role is and I feel confident.

Laura Coombs' on her goal đź’¬

It’s probably a good thing, that’s the way I like it when the ball comes nicely, hit the target and thankfully it went in.
