CommentaryReporting by George Kelsey @mancity

Goodbye 👋

That's all from me this afternoon!

Ultimately, a frustrating day at the office for City, but we have a chance to put things right once again as soon as Wednesday when we travel to Bristol City in the Continental Cup.

We'll be back on Wednesday to guide you through the action from Ashton Gate but, until then, thank you for your company as always!

Taylor on potential fixture congestion 🗣

"The fundamentals are you have to turn up, battle and compete and I just didn’t feel we did the basics well enough today which didn't give us the platform.

"Final 20 I thought we were a lot better, we started well but then took our foot off the pedal and allowed Villa back into it.

"I thought in the second half, the latter part, we looked the team more likely to go on and win the game.

"It's hard to put your finger on why it felt a bit flat today."

Taylor on conceding soon after lead 🗣

"Tough, it’s always a horrible one in football when that happens.

"When you feel in a good moment and then it’s gone, it’s tough to take but that can happen.

"You’re probably at your most vulnerable when you’e scored, football’s proven that over the years.

"We just dropped our levels of concentration slightly, the gaps became too big and we allowed Villa to equalise."

Taylor on performance 🗣

"It's not one of our best, I think we looked a bit flat from the start.

"We scored a good goal and then obviously the concentration was poor [to conced].

"We couldn't get the symmetry and combination right apart from the final 15/20 minutes.

"Villa had some attempts, too many for our liking, but it was important not to lose as much as a point isn't what we wanted.

"Today’s performance is a point we appreciate."

Taylor reaction 🗣

The boss is about to conduct his post-match press conference!

Rare point?

That was Aston Villa's first WSL away draw in 14 matches.

Before today, the visitors had won seven and lost seven on the road in the league.

Reaction 🗣

We'll be hearing from the boss shortly after our latest clash.

Post-match thoughts

City huffed and puffed towards the end but ultimately Villa held firm.

We close the gap on the top three to two points ahead of the the rest of the WSL's fixtures this weekend.

It ends all square at the Academy Stadium.
