That's all, folks

Thanks for your company as always this afternoon!

A tough one to take for City today, who gave our all but ultimately came up short at Prenton Park.

There're still two massive fixtures left this season though and plenty left to play for.

Keep across the official Man City app and mancity.com for reaction to today's clash, otherwise we'll catch you at the derby on Sunday 21 May!

Taylor on Liverpool πŸ—£

"Liverpool are a good team at holding onto leads.

"When they went 2-1 up with their tails up and were defending the box well, I think anyone would struggle to defend against that.

"We created some things but probably not as much as we'd have liked. They battled and defended the goal really well."

Taylor on season run-in πŸ—£

"We spoke about being positive with the players and about how well they've done [this season].

"It's disappointing today, but we still have two really good games to look forward to.

"The message was upbeat and wanting to see positivity in the players when they come back on Tuesday, and look forward to the challenge of the last two games."

Taylor on performance πŸ—£

"We were just off it today. I thought we started quite well but gave away a poor error for their goal.

"We did show a good mentality to claw it back to 1-1 and I felt we'd then get chances, which we did.

"I spoke at half-time about not giving anything else away, but we did."

Time to refocus

City aren't in action again until the 21st May - which gives us plenty of time to rest up and refocus ahead of an important final two matches.

With the derby being the first of those fixtures, Taylor's side can still have a huge say in both the WSL title race and in the push for a top three finish.

Heads up, guys!

Cruel on City

It's a tough one to take for Gareth Taylor's side, who gave it absolutely everything at Prenton Park today.

Credit where it's due, Liverpool defended brilliantly and Matt Beard will be delighted with his side's performance.

But when you hit the underside of the bar on the verge of stoppage time, and a few other chances go begging, it's tough not to feel like we could've got something from that another day.
