That's all, folks 👋

...And breathe!

A hard-fought win for City this afternoon on Merseyside thanks to goals in either half from Julie Blakstad and Bunny Shaw.

It's a sixth win on the spin for Gareth Taylor's side to keep the pressure on the WSL top three.

Keep across and the official app for plenty of post-match reaction across the evening.

Thank you once again for your company, and see you next week against Brighton!

Taylor on Shaw performance 💬

"She does so much more than score goals for us.

"The way she takes the hits at the top end of the pitch and gives it out, she’s very strong, looking a lot fitter, she has the rhythm of playing and is the real focal point.

"I actually said before the game that she’ll get a tap in today, we knew Everton would try to play similar and there would be some opportunities.

"She was there and there were probably some others as well where she could have even got a hat-trick."

Taylor on Hemp injury 💬

"Lauren has had an original scan which showed up an issue, we just need to determine how big an issue and sometimes with muscle tendons it needs to be rescanned to find out for certain.

"It’ll be a push for the derby, but it’ll be an outside chance. We'll know more by the end of the next week."

Taylor on WSL ambitions 💬

"We believe we can win it still.

"But we just want to pick off the games one by one, we don’t look too far ahead of ourselves, we concentrate on this game and next Sunday’s against Sunderland and then Brighton.

"What we try to do is focus on the next game, it’s difficult sometimes but spending more time with the players you can see the rhythm and the communication improving.

"It was a game of two halves. I was really pleased first half how we played and second how we got over the line."

Taylor on Blakstad 💬

"We think for us in our system as an 11 where Lauren plays [is her best position]. They give you different things.

"It will have done wonders for her confidence scoring the goal.

"She looked physically strong in a tough 90 minutes like that and she coped physically and gets into really good areas.

"She’s a young player from a different league, new team and hasn’t played since the Continental Cup which can be difficult.

"She came in and did well."

Gareth Taylor on the performance 💬

"It was a game of two halves, I think it was a really good performance from us, especially off the back of the international break, you’re never too sure how much rhythm you’ll see.

"But against a really aggressive Everton press we handled it really well, mixed our game up which allowed us to get through a lot.

"In the second half we just went a little bit away from that and probably rushed it a bit but still created good chances.

"Someone said we had 25 attempts today, we need to improve on that for sure and there’s plenty to analyse but really pleased with how the players managed it. It’s a tough place to come."

Give me 5 ✋

Boss Gareth Taylor congratulates Bunny Shaw after her Player of the Match performance, which saw one goal and one assist.

Bunny Shaw on her form 💬

"It is good. It comes with momentum.

"When you have momentum, you have confidence.

"Credit to the girls, they see me and they always try to find me."

Team spirit 🤝

The togetherness in the City squad is sky high at present.

And if there was a 📷 that summed it up, it’s this one after Bunny Shaw scored the winner.
