PEP REACTION

First half was good, second half no. There were many many things that were good but second half we punished them in transitions but they were better than us.

All of the [new signings]. Tijjani is an exceptional player, one of the best in Serie A in last season. Many things have been good. First half was good, you never know we didn't play many pre-season friendlies. Second half we dropped too much but it's the first game of the season.

REIJNDERS REACTION

It’s a really nice start of course, to start with a goal and assist, especially in the Premier League, it’s something you always dream about. It can be better.

The first game of the season you don’t know what will happen or how the opponent will play. We did quite good, they put a bit of pressure on us but we stayed calm and it’s a good 4-0 win.

I’m always going on the pitch with a smile, I love playing football and enjoy every minute on the pitch. This is what I want to show to the fans. Starting like this is unbelievable.

NEIL LEIGH AT MOLINEUX

Lovely touching scenes here at the end.

They may have been beaten but the Wolves faithful are blasting out a song in honour of Diogo Jota non-stop and Portuguese compatriots Bernardo Silva and Ruben Dias went over to the Wolves end to salute the fans for their tribute for their colleague and friend.

The power of football and emotion at its very best.

NEIL LEIGH AT MOLINEUX

Pep Guardiola and City are no strangers to opening day Premier League wins.

That’s 10 in a row now for the Catalan, a quite remarkable stat in its own right.

But I would humbly suggest this one is right up there in terms of overall significance.

A new look City looking to bounce back after the frustrations of last term simply swept Wolves aside in quite imperious fashion to start the 2025/26 campaign in thrilling fashion.

I would also wager the manner and scale of our win has also registered with our Premier League rivals.

It should make for an enjoyable trip back to Manchester for the squad and our fans who, as usual, were terrific from start to finish in their support for the side.

All in  all quite the opening statement.
