Thank you and goodnight👋

As always, thank you for your company this evening / morning.

City bow out of the FIFA Club World Cup at the Round of 16 stage after a 4-3 extra-time defeat to Al-Hilal.

The players gave their absolute all, but it simply wasn't to be in Orlando. It's a bitter pill to swallow, but we're dust ourselves down and go again in six weeks' time as the Premier League season comes into focus.

Make sure to keep across mancity.com and the official Man City app for plenty of reaction over the next few hours.

Pep's final thoughts 🗣

"They [Al-Hilal] have the quality to keep the ball and it demands a lot to be effective in the high pressing. We have done it many times.

"It’s a team that can run and run. With the ball we have to be composed and to do it.

"I had a big opinion of Al-Hilal and I think we made a good game but we missed some transitions."

More from Pep 🗣

"I saw many good things that I didn’t see in the past, especially where we were, the relations between the players and the staff.

"I felt we were happy here and the sessions were really good, but the levels here are so high.

"The chances we had, they defended so deep and Bounou made a lot of saves but you have to score and be so clinical.

"They didn’t create in the first half and I had the feeling that we could do it."

Pep Guardiola reaction 🗣

"Well, in these stages they are all difficult games. We allowed them to create transitions but we create a lot and in general we were good.

"It’s a pity. We were in such a good place and I can't not say thank you to the staff, how they train and prepare, they have given everything.

"We made a lot of actions and Bono made incredible saves. Nothing else to say.

"I have the feeling that the team is doing well, but we go home and now it's time to rest and refresh our mind and come back next season."

More from Nicky Weaver on Matchday Live 🗣

"The best thing about football is that there's always another game.

"The next competitive one is six-and-a-half weeks away but it'll be here before we know it. I've really enjoyed watching City in this tournament, I'm just gutted we couldn't go one step further.

"But it wasn't to be."

Andy Morrison on Matchday Live 🗣

"He [Simone Inzaghi] obviously creates a belief and has a way of playing. Even though they were 1-0 down they were still in the game.

"The most disappointing thing is how we started the second half. That can't happen.

"It's disappointing, but nobody will be more disappointed than the players, you could see they were desperate to do well. But it was too easy for them to score the fourth goal."

Nicky Weaver on Matchday Live 🗣

"We can't believe how the game's unfolded. At half-time we were signing the praises saying we thought it could've been one or two goals more, which proved critical.

"Second half they came otu like an express train, although we got back into the game we never really dominated. They looked really dangerous.

"It's disappointing because I think how well we'd played against Juventus to tonight."
