Six down, two to go...

Next up in Europe for City is a trip to Bodo/Glint in late January before we then close our league phase at home to Galatasaray.

With two games to go before the knockout stages kick in we are sitting in a really positive position.

More from Pep...

On overall progress: We are away. We are not ready. In February we will be better. The players made incredible effort and the spirit is unbelievable, but still a big margin to improve.

On his players: Nunes played very good. Jeremy made an incredible performance, he helped us with many things. I always had believe that with the ball we could do it.

Pep's reaction ...

On winning at the Bernabeu for the first time since 2020: It could be better. Bernabeu is so difficult. 4, 5 or 6 players played their first time here, it’s a process and a lot of new players. Winning here, we have to be happy, we have 13 points already, it’s in our hands to finish in the top 8, winning here after Leverkusen is very good.

On Erling Haaland: The numbers speak for itself. We have to find him more, he has to be more involved in the game. We have to think a way to make him more present in our game, but the numbers speak for itself.

Job done

A night to remember for City!

More from Erling Haaland

On the UCL: It could have looked completely different today if we didn't win because we lost to Leverkusen. This win is really important. We have two more games left, we need to finish strong and hopefully we can be in the first eight so we’re through.

On the Premier League title battle: I don’t like to speak too much about this because I think we should focus on ourselves which City have been so good at over the last 10 years. Just focus on winning our next game, Palace on Sunday, which is a really tough game. We need to take it game by game. We can enjoy this for a few hours and it’s about staying fit and take it game by game and hopefully win on Sunday.

Erling Haaland's reaction

On the victory: It’s difficult to come here. It’s a tough place to come. The game gets how it gets with loads of transitions. We could have added another goal but the game is a bit chaotic, we can’t really control it which is difficult. In the end we’re super happy.

Playing at the Bernabeu: Of course, it’s a nice place to play. Look at this place it’s incredible. These games we want to play. In this format we get to play more games which is nice. And I like it.

22:16

Onwards and upwards

That's four wins in a row for City now in all competitions and a real sense of momentum is starting to build you feel.

Pep has made a point of saying how happy he is with the way his players are performing and tonight provided further proof positive of the impressive form we are in.

It all augurs really well looking to the rest of the season.

Winning smiles

A proud Nico O'Reilly with his UEFA man of the match award.

That's one to savour!

More from Nico O'Reilly...

On winning at the Bernabeu and the UCL: We know how good Real Madrid are. The history we’ve had, we’ve played them over the last few seasons. They’re so good. So playing here and winning shows how good we are playing at the minute and the form we’re on, so I say we have a good chance.

Oh his own personal form: The first few minutes I was a bit slow, I could have stopped the first goal, but I made up for it in the end.
