Pep gives update on injured trio

Nathan doesn’t look good. Manu has for last month struggled a lot. I can just thank them for the effort they do in the positions that are not natural. We’ll see in three days what happens. Sad for Nathan and Manu. Manu maybe not Selhurst Park but in two games. Nathan I think will be out. Phil has bronchitis so he will be no fever and ready.

Pep reaction

I’m so happy for Kevin. Last season was many months injured and this season as well. He fought a lot. I decided not to play at Anfield but today he played 75 fantastic minutes.

More KDB...

"I was really surprised because when I got the ball from Jeremy, I was in so much space. I just had to hit the target. Luckily I did that.

"I tried to manage [my return]  a bit. In the second half I managed it a bit more and controlled it a bit more. I’m happy I could do 70 minutes, it’s a big improvement from what I’ve done lately so I’m happy about that.

"It’s been a difficult spell and maybe they look a bit to the older guys, the experienced, to bring a bit of rest or calmness in the game. I was able to do that. I made a couple of mistakes in the first half. Jack did a really good job at carrying the ball and control it a bit. Bernardo is the same type and Gundo. Then Jeremy is a different kind of player. He’s very electric. So we had a bit of a mix today. We did well under the circumstances."

KDB: It's been a tough time

"It’s nice. It’s not been a nice period for me, but you have to deal with it. It’s nice to be out there to change the momentum hopefully. It’s been a tough time. You have to accept the challenge, I think we did well today.

"We started really well. First 20 minutes we were in control. I had a chance with the header, I was trying to score but it was going next to the goal. It was good that Bernardo was there.

"We played more of a 3-3-4 I would say. We didn’t expect Forest to go man for man so we adjusted a bit. They left Nathan free so he was the guy who was coming. The first 30 minutes we did well and then we struggled a bit. And then the second half was a different game playing against five at the back."

Looking forward to Pep's press conference which is coming up shortly - the only setback was Ake's late injury and we don't know if Akanji came off with an issue just yet. But overall, the boss will be so happy with the way his team went about their business.
