FT

Phil Foden speaking to DAZN

I'm very happy for the team to start the tournament with a win. It was difficult at times with the heat. Fair play to them, they were a top team on the counter-attacks. A lot of chances that we had to deal wit. Happy with the performance and happy with the three points.

I stayed alive, and the ball fell to me. I put it away nicely, so I am happy.

A new season, fresh me - I'm looking forward to the season now.

SO CLOSE!

Great work from Rodri as he intercepts high up the pitch and slides in Haaland but his shot is saved well by Benabid.

Moutarajji blasts way over the bar. We've got six minutes of injury time.

LAST CHANGE

VAR upholds the decision. Wydad have a free-kick in a dangerous position. Mathues Nunes comes on for Savinho to see out the game.

Sent off

Rico Lewis is shown a straight red card. He's in disbelief. He's won the ball cleanly but his foot has caught Obeng in the face accidentally. It's being checked by VAR.

Game of patience

Wydad are doing their best to keep City away from their goal. But there is plenty of patience in Pep Guardiola's side. A final change for Wydad as Aziz Ki replaces Lorch.

SMOKE BOMBS

The game has been stopped because a few fireworks have been let off in the Wydad end of the ground. It's a quick stoppage though and we're back under way.

WYDAD SWITCH

Moutarajji replaces Meijers for Wydad as we move into the final quarter of an hour.
