That's all for tonight!

Thanks for joining us -  you can watch highlights of the game from midday (UK) tomorrow and we have a James McAtee and Pep press conference video still to come in the next hour.

A lot of smiles around the Etihad today, both on and off the pitch. Now we need to take this feel-good factor into our game at Brentford on Tuesday and that won't be an easy game...

Have a great weekend and see you here on Tuesday!

Today's star man

There were plenty to choose from in fairness...

20:13

Pep on Kyle Walker

"It’s not easy to say. Two days ago Kyle asked to explore the options to play abroad at this stage of his career. We cannot understand the success we had these years without Kyle. It’s impossible. In his mind, he would like to explore to go to another country for many reasons. He went to Txiki.

"Explore doesn’t mean it’s going to happen. We are more than grateful. He arrived many years ago and we win win win. Important for the national team and our team. He wants to explore his mind and heart. I don’t know what’s going to happen."

20:11

Pep on Nico O'Reilly

"He can play in the middle and outside and both sides. Nico played for the first time in his life at left back. He has the conditions to play holding midfielder but maybe he doesn’t believe he can play this. He’s another talent we trust a lot."

Pep reaction

On McAtee

"He’s a special talented player. Generation of Rogers, Palmer Delap, Lavia, Sancho. He was a main player there,  the captain and a City fan. I’m not going to deny how happy I am. It’s not easy to score a hat trick but he can play better. First half was not his best but he’s an exceptional guy. His work ethic is unbelievable. Today was not easy. I’m really pleased for him."

20:02

Good start to 2025

That's a 4-1 win over West Ham and an 8-0 win over Salford City. Not a bad way to begin the New Year...

20:01

Joe Hart on BBC Sport

"Man City looked clinical and looked hungry. They didn't look desperate, they were patient and the finishing was top-class. I felt for [Salford keeper] Matty Young tonight, there were balls flying past him - some top finishing."

Divin Mubama

Not a bad day's work....

19:55

Robinson reaction

"We are 10 years old and we brought 5,500 fans. We've not been here before - we haven't played a Premier League team before so we're ticking boxes as we go."

19:50

Karl Robinson reaction

"I'm so proud of them. If I 'd been offered to concede just eight goals in seven games, I'd have taken that. I just didn't think they'd all come in one game!

"We could have done better, but I'm not going to have a go at them. I'd rather have a go at myself."
