See you on Wednesday 👋

That's all for today.

An excellent, battling performance on the south coast means we'll be back to Wembley in a few weeks!

In the meantime, we're back at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday evening. Leicester City are the visitors in a 19:45 (UK) kick-off.

We'll be back with our match coverage then!

Pep's reaction 🗣️

"Comparing the game we played in November - we came here with flipflops, we came here for the holiday against a team that competes.

"Today, we were a team and we challenged. In football you have to run.

"We love the FA Cup. Hopefully, we can reach the final.

On Erling Haaland's issue: "I don't know yet."

Incredible support 👏

You were loud and proud on the south coast today. Thanks as always to every single Blue that made the journey.

The reward is another day out at Wembley late on in April!

Your Man of the Match 🗣️

It could only be Nico O'Reilly for his match-changing impact!

Head to your Cityzens feed for the chance to win a shirt signed by the youngster.

O'Reilly's reaction 🗣️

I'm trying my hardest every game and trying to do what I can to help the team. Pep told me to help the team and give the width and get high up the pitch. Both assists were really important so I don't have a favourite.

Bernardo on O'Reilly 🗣️

He was unbelievable. Against Plymouth he showed the impact he can have and today he did it too. Well deserved and I'm happy for you.

Seven-in-a-row

We'll play Nottingham Forest in the semi-final at Wembley on 26/27 April with the date to be confirmed in due course.

It's our seventh successive appearance at the semi-final stage, extending a record we set last season.

In that time, we've lifted the trophy twice - in 2018/19 during our Fourmidables campaign and 2022/23 as part of a historic Treble.

The run actually began in 2018/19, when we overcame Rotherham, Burnley, Newport County, Swansea, Brighton and Watford.

Semi-final exits followed in 2019/20, 2020/21 and 2021/22 as competing priorities with Premier League and Champions League forced the squad one step too far.

That wasn't the case in 2022/23 however, with early round successes over Chelsea, Arsenal, Bristol City and Burnley backed up at Wembley by a semi-final win over Sheffield United and unforgettable final win over Manchester United.

We again reached the final in 2023/24 before this term's seventh successive return to Wembley in this competition.

How we did it...

After Evanilson's goal midway through the first half, it looked at half-time like we were facing an uphill battle.

Instead, the introduction of Nico O'Reilly and Omar Marmoush turned the game on its head.

O'Reilly supplied both Erling Haaland and then Marmoush for our two goals.

After that, it was all about holding our own. A superb second-half display at a very tricky place to go...
