“I’m really enjoying it.

“I’m still learning every day, training, trying to master little things that I’m good at and work on the things I’m not good at.

“And if the manager wants to play me there and then decides to do new things or the same things and build on them from last season I’ll give it my all as I did.

“I absolutely love the kind of freedom to get forward and create things and bring my qualities and that side of my game out.”

On KDB fitness…

“He feels much, much, much better.

“I don't know Bayern Munich or the next game Atletico because he has to train, but he is so close to being back.”

On Erling Haaland…

“Compared to last season he is fitter. He is much better than last season when he arrived.

“We would love him to be like last season. He is not injured which is good but he is still away from it like everyone.

“It is important to take the rhythm and the principles we work with all the time.

“He knows what he has to do, we know him and in a few weeks he will be in better condition than he is now.”

On Oscar Bobb impact…

“Oscar made an incredible season for the second team of Man City.

“He played unbelievable. He played three or four positions well. We count on him a lot.

“First Phil, Cole Palmer, Rico, McAtee - and now Oscar has a good perspective.”

On today’s win…

“It’s a good test for us because we don't have enough preparation and Yokohama played really well on the transitions. It was good for us.

“Many things we can improve of course, and no one injured, which is the most important thing.

“Now we rest and prepare for Bayern Munich.”

On Mateo Kovacic debut…

“Really good. He is an exceptional player, we know it.

“It’s just the first game. He has to know us and what we want.

“But really, really good.”

On reaction in Japan…

“I think it just shows how big the club is.

“Literally thousands of fans, and so many outside the hotel. The people are so nice, it’s a great country.”

On upcoming game with Bayern Munich…

“It will be exciting against one of the best teams in the world and I think everyone is looking forward to it.”

“It was good to get the win.

“The first game back was a bit tough coming on. I can’t say that was easy because I felt it was quite tough.

“But I think everyone is happy to get the win and obviously get the season started.”

“A tough challenge against a tough side and a strong manager.

“From our perspective I am really proud of the group.

“Sometimes in life you have to make decisions to protect who you are or do something different because it’s easy.
