Goodnight 👋

That's all from me here tonight after a brilliant game of football at Brighton.

The champions earned a point just a few days after those brilliant celebrations in Manchester thanks to Phil Foden's first half goal. Just one more Premier League assignment to go before finals in the FA Cup and Champions League.

We'll have more reaction tonight and tomorrow on mancity.com and the official app. Highlights will be available from midnight too, as well as full-match replay for CITY+ and Recast subscribers.

Rodrigo on tonight's game 🗣

"It was great to play in. Such a nice game against Brighton, they have been amazing.

"Football is becoming so, so tactical. You have to choose so good the pass.

"The difference is we have a beast up front and he can keep the ball.

"We had chances, they also had chances. It was a good result."

A good point

Brighton gave as good as they got tonight!

Pep Guardiola to Sky Sports 💬

"Brighton, they destroy the other opponents they have been playing. They did it in certain moments, especially the last 10 or 15 minutes, we struggled but we did really well.

"We cannot drop momentum. I didn't see it, against Chelsea I didn't see it today. During the week we have to rest, recover mentally. It's been demanding for the past six months playing Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and chasing Arsenal. The training now is just relaxed."

👏💙👏

Thank you to all the incredible fans who made the journey down to Brighton tonight!

Pep Guardiola to Sky Sports 💬

"Exceptional game. Congratulations to Brighton for their deserved qualification to the Europa League.

"The game we played, 48 hours after we drank all the alcohol in Manchester, 48 hours later we behaved and we showed why we were the champions against that team.

"We showed what we have done with and without the ball. I didn't see one drop in our intensity and idea. They had chances, we had chances, we scored a goal, they scored a goal.

"Both teams want the ball, both teams want to press. The keepers are fundamental in this game. The quality they have, they are an exceptional team."

Back to front

The goal was an excellent City move!

Average positions

This shows how busy it was in the middle of the park tonight.

De Zerbi on Pep's influence 🗣

I became a coach for him because I loved his Barcelona. I studied him a lot. I don't want to copy and I didn't copy but I took bits when I started to be a coach. Pep is still number one.

Brighton came at us

Brighton fired in 20 shots against City tonight; only Wolves (21 v Man City in December 2019) and Atletico Madrid (22 v Barcelona in March 2009) have ever attempted more shots in a top-flight match against a side managed by Pep Guardiola.
