Ireland youth international Jack Byrne was a regular for City u18s in the 2013/14 campaign, catching the eye with his influential performances in midfield.
Equally adept at winning the ball back from the opposition and providing a killer pass for his teammates, Jack possesses the technique and vision to create time and space in the congested midfield area.
After earning considerable praise from then DS boss Patrick Vieira on the 2013 pre-season tour of Croatia, the midfielder received rave reviews for his displays in the inaugural season of the u19 UEFA Youth League, when his talents stood out on the European stage against the likes of Bayern Munich and CSKA Moscow.
Byrne joined Dutch side SC Cambuur on loan for the 2015/16 season and has earned rave reviews for his performances in the Eredivisie, as well as becoming the youngest goal scorer in the Club’s history with his goal in the 4-1 win at Excelsior.
The 20-year old will spend the 2016/17 season plying his trade at Ewood Park having joined Blackburn Rovers on loan in late June.
Jack has represented Ireland at u17, u19 and u21 level, and was named Ireland’s Under 17 International Player of the Year at the FAI’s International football awards in March 2014.
