Coaches

All sessions are delivered by experienced coaches visiting from the UK who are trained in the Manchester City “Play” model, developed as part of the Manchester City Academy’s coaching curriculum.

Courses have been designed to support the development of all players and will focus on:

  • Learning the fundamentals of attacking play and defending.

  • Developing the confidence and creativity in 1v1 situations.

  • Through a series of mini-games (3v3s, 4v4s…) improving understanding of the roles of players and the principles of formations and positions, preparing for 11v11 in future years.

  • Have fun, learning how to make good decisions in realistic game situations, and what it means to work as a team and support each other.

Sessions are curated into blocks of 1-hour intense training or match play, interspersed with 30-minutes of coach instruction or recovery breaks, along with classroom video sessions across the 4 days.

Players will be grouped according to age (7-8; 9-10; 11-12; and 13-14) with places capped to ensure a coach:player ratio of no greater than 1:16.

Players will receive a detailed player feedback form on completion of their course, as well as a commemorative certificate, with coaches also available to speak with players and parents at the conclusion of the clinic.

Parents and players will receive an info pack prior to their clinic commencing with additional material, including detailed session schedules, site specific information, and player expectations.
