Palermo FC Visit Delivers Unforgettable Experiences for Manchester City Football Programs Players

Manchester City Football Programs players enjoyed an incredible week of football experiences as City Football Group sister club Palermo FC visited Perth as part of their Australian pre-season tour.

The visit gave players and families unique access to professional footballers and elite football environments, showcasing the special opportunities available through Manchester City Football Programs and the wider City Football Group network.

Meeting the Professionals

The excitement began on Wednesday 5 August, when Palermo FC players stopped by a Manchester City Football Programs training session.

Players had the opportunity to meet members of the first-team squad, have a group photo taken, and interact with players competing at the highest level of the game. The session provided a memorable chance for participants to connect with professional footballers and gain inspiration from their journey and experiences.

Creating Lifelong Matchday Memories

On Friday 7 August, Palermo FC faced fellow City Football Group Club Melbourne City FC at the Sam Kerr Centre in a pre-season friendly. 

A group of Manchester City Football Programs players were selected as match mascots, walking onto the pitch alongside players from both teams before kick-off. From waiting in the tunnel to sharing handshakes and conversations with the players, it was an experience they will remember for years to come.

Additional players were selected as ball kids, giving them an up-close view of the match and a unique insight into the demands of the professional game. Positioned around the field, they witnessed first-hand the intensity, communication and professionalism required at the elite level.

The occasion also provided an opportunity for many Manchester City Football Programs families to attend the match, helping create a fantastic atmosphere and allowing players to experience a professional football event alongside their teammates. 

Open Training Provides Behind-the-Scenes Access

The experiences concluded on Saturday 8 August with Palermo FC's Open Training Session at Dorrien Gardens.

Players and families watched the squad train and gained valuable insight into the preparation, habits and standards expected within a professional football environment. Seeing elite players and coaches work up close provided further inspiration for young footballers as they continue their own development journey.
