Community is at the heart of everything we do here at Manchester City Football Club.
As a result, when we began planning the development of City Football Academy giving back to East Manchester quickly became an integral part of the project.
While CFA already provides East Manchester with an array of community benefits , the Club felt it was important to donate 16 of the site’s 80 acres for further community use.
This donation allows us to show our gratitude to the community who warmly welcomed us into their lives in 2003. It also allows us to contribute even more to Manchester’s sport and educational advancement, which constitutes a key element of our community work.
Led by Manchester City Council and reflecting local feedback, these 16 acres are set to become your Beswick Community Hub and will include:
- The Beswick Leisure Centre
- Connell Sixth Form College
- The Manchester Institute of Sports Science and Sports Medicine
- Commercial office space, including the House of Sport
- Shops and retail opportunities.
All of these developments have been designed with the aim of accelerating the revival of East Manchester, our home. Once completed, the Beswick Community Hub will help to create a thriving urban zone in the Eastlands that offers countless education and employment opportunities for the local youth and residents.
The ultimate goal is to make East Manchester not only a centre for sporting excellence, but also a major investment hub, a prime location for national and international leisure visitors and an environmentally sustainable zone in our ever-expanding city.
This is Beswick, this is our future, this is all for you.
