FourFourTwo: De Bruyne eyeing EURO 2016 Final

MASTERCLASS: King Kev gets two assists against Hungary

MASTERCLASS: King Kev gets two assists against Hungary

The quarter finals are becoming more and more evident as the days go by... It's getting interesting!

Sunday saw France and Belgium both play in the last 16 of the Uefa Euro tournament and both teams were able to pull out victories in order to go through to the quarter finals. Bacary Sagna provided a great cross that found the head of Antoine Griezmann for an assist whereas Kevin De Bruyne provided two for Toby Alderweireld and Yannick Carrasco.

FourFourTwo reported that “Kevin De Bruyne and Belgium are eyeing the Euro 2016 final after brushing past Hungary in the last 16.

“Belgium attacker Kevin De Bruyne has set his sights on the Euro 2016 final after his team reached the last eight.

“Marc Wilmots' men crushed Hungary 4-0 on Sunday to book a quarter-final meeting with Wales.

“The two nations met in qualifying, with Chris Coleman's Wales taking four points from a possible six against Belgium.

“De Bruyne, whose team sit on the so-called weaker side of the draw, is wary of Wales but is still eyeing the final.

When speaking with journalists after the game, Dajan Kalinic of Goal.com quoted the City star as De Bruyne spoke of Belgium’s chances against Wales.

"We now play a Wales team we know well. I can't wait to play this match with the number of Belgium fans in the stadium," he said.

"We'll need to play at the same level as we did today.

"We are going to try to go all the way into the final, now we're in the quarter-finals.

"We need to take things one game at a time, Wales have played well thus far and we deserve to be here as well.

Moving swiftly on to some transfer gossip to start the week off. It seems as though Spanish side Barcelona have swooped in to nip Nolito in which now looks like it will turn into battle of the bids.

FourFourTwo report on the matter.

“Though he admits he has not spoken to either club, Spain forward Nolito says he is proud to be linked with Barcelona and Manchester City.

“Spain striker Nolito says he has not had contact with either Manchester City or Barcelona, despite revealing his pride at apparent interest from the pair.

“The Celta Vigo forward netted 12 times in La Liga last season, and also scored in his country's 3-0 Euro 2016 win over Turkey.

“He has been repeatedly linked with a number of moves ahead of the new campaign, but the 29-year-old insists he is simply focused on the Euros.

Will City sign the Spaniard or will he stay in his home nation; or even go elsewhere?

Finally, James Robson from the Manchester Evening News takes an in depth look at the City defence and the possibility of Pep Guardiola shaking things up in time for August 13.

“Eliaquim Mangala will be left to decide his Manchester City future with Porto prepared to offer him a route out of the Etihad.

“The Frenchman’s position is uncertain following the arrival of Pep Guardiola, who plans to reshape his defence this summer.

“The incoming City manager is targeting John Stones in a deal that could be worth in excess of £45m… And with Jason Denayer returning from a loan spell at Galatasaray, Vincent Kompany assured of his future and Nicolas Otamendi also at the club, Mangala is set to face increased competition for his place.

That’s it for today’s media round-up. Check back tomorrow for reaction from England’s draw against Iceland tonight!
