City record best-ever start to top-flight season

TOGETHER: A record-breaking, outstanding display as City make history with a 4-0 rout at Swansea

TOGETHER: A record-breaking, outstanding display as City make history with a 4-0 rout at Swansea

Manchester City have set a new English football record of 15-consecutive wins after a 4-0 victory over Swansea at the Liberty Stadium.

The result means City have bettered the 14-straight victories Arsenal managed between February and August 2002.

City have now taken 49 points from 17 games so far this season, which represents the best-ever start to an English top-flight campaign.

Tottenham’s great double-winning side of 1960-61 previously held the record but our win at the Liberty Stadium means we have taken three more points than Bill Nicholson’s men managed at this stage of the campaign.

City have dropped just two points all season, with the draw at home to Everton the only blot on our copybook thus far.

Everyone at City would like to congratulate Pep Guardiola and all the players on a magnificent achievement.
