Defender Abbie McManus has enjoyed a long career with City, having represented the Club as Manchester City Ladies before 2014's relaunch.

She made her top-flight debut in a 1-0 win over Everton at the Etihad Stadium back in May 2014, having made a substitute appearance for the Blues just days before in an away defeat to Doncaster Rovers Belles.

Since then, Prestwich-born McManus has become a first-team regular for Nick Cushing's side with a string of impressive performances.

She scored her first goal for the club with a stunning first-time effort against champions Liverpool Ladies in just her second start, unleashing an unstoppable effort into the top corner to give the home side the lead in the Continental Cup clash.

She has bagged three goals to date, including another 'worldie' strike from the edge of the box against Bristol City.

Though calm and assured in possession, whilst strong and determined in tackles, McManus describes her best trait as her teamwork.

When asked of her hopes for her first season with the senior side, she replied with her desire to win some silverware - which she did, as part of the 2014 Continental Cup winning side.

She has gone on to help the Blues to a clean sweep of domestic trophies and three consecutive Champions League appearances, rewarded with her first call-up to Phil Neville's England squad in February 2018.
